A few photos so far...

The first picture here is of Carolyn, Patrick, Rachel and I with Sarah Obama in Kisumu. We are in the family compound and you can see their house in the background. The second photo is of the rift valley, some of the most fertile land in Kenya. We stopped at a scenic overlook to take pictures on our way to Nakuru the first week. Next is a picture of Jasmine and I at Lake Nakuru, in front of all the many, many birds! Finally, the sunrise over Lake Nakuru, which was absolutely beautiful.
P.S. No worries Eileen, I've taken PLENTY more photos, these are just a few to whet the appetite. :)

  1. Jambo Bridget!
    The pictures are great.
The one with Sarah is really neat.
I'm glad you said something about the birds.
I thought it was waves from the water!
I was glad I got my picture on the followers section. I didn't like being a shadow!
Megan is coming home for a week at the end of February. I will make sure she posts things
for you. I'm sure she has lots to tell you.
It sounds like you are having lots of fun.
    That is great.
I think of you a lot.
    Love,
    Kathy

  2. Cool photos! The sunrise is beautiful and I love the pic at the Obama family compound. So are those some of your good friends from the program? I recognize Rachel from the airport - are you two hanging out a lot? I'm glad I can picture your host siblings now. I'm jealous to see you wearing flip flops. It is still freezing here. Love ya!

  3. Well, the picture of all of you and Sarah Obama has already made the rounds of many people at school, is printed and up on the fridge at home, with an extra copy made for Grandma!

We love the pictures- thanks for taking the time to upload them. I'm so happy that now I can picture many of the people who are sharing your adventure. And I look at that breath-taking picture of the expanse of the Rift Valley and can't believe that you are so far away and looking at scenes like that. It's mind boggling, but thrilling at the same time.

Love to our favorite Roby in NaiRobi!

  5. Wow! Fabulous Photos!

When we enlarged them they continued to look good.

Sunrise at Lake Nakuru looks like a shot from National Geographic.

You look great in all the shots!

Wonderful to see your host sister and brother!

Colin gets his Jeep one week from today.

Moe and Christian plan to have Irish music and dancing at their wedding reception.

Did you hear that President Obama visited Canada where he has 80% of the people approving of him compared to 40% who approve of their own Prime Minister. That's more support than he has in US.

Glad to hear you made a US-like dinner for your host family.

You are in my thoughts and prayers.

  6. Rekha and Vijay wanted to write a comment so here is what they had to say:

    Hello from Eden Prairie-Bridget,

Rekha and I read through your blog only today. I am sure it is a very different and not always in line with what you are used to in the States. Keep writing. We love you.

We had dinner with Kari last night at True Thai, an awesome Thai place Kari introduced to us. After you get back we will all go together.

    Love.

    Rekha and Vijay
